Our leaders are important and integral to our medical communication community. We accomplish a great deal together, constantly working to engage new members and offer more networking opportunities, in order to learn from each other.
President: Irvin Peralta, MBA
Irvin is a specialty sales trainer, freelance medical writer, and consultant living in Weston FL. He has worked on several writing and training projects for biotechnology companies and currently works in sales and marketing for a large pharmaceutical corporation. He joined AMWA in 2012 and was an active member of the NYC chapter before relocating to FL. As President-elect, Irvin will work with Melory Johnson to make the Florida Chapter a success by increasing its memberships, presence on social media, and networking activities.
President- ELECT: Shara Pantry
Shara is currently a postdoctoral research associate residing in Miami. She has experience editing, proofreading and writing scientific content in various capacities. Shara joined AMWA in 2016 and has regularly attended the “First Thursday” networking events. As President-elect, Shara will work with Irvin Peralta to ensure the continued success of the chapter by spreading the word about AMWA and increasing networking events throughout the state.
Candidate for Secretary: Krisha Brister, MS, ELS
Krisha is a regulatory medical editor/writer and is currently contracted with a large pharmaceutical/biologic company. Krisha has been a member of AMWA since 2013 and served on the AMWA 2017 Annual Conference Committee. She lives in the panhandle of Florida near Fort Walton Beach.
Candidate for Treasurer: Maryalice Ditzler
Maryalice has been a freelance copyeditor for the past 10 years after retiring from her full-time job at Cadmus Communications. During her 25+ years as an AMWA member, she has presented workshops on copyediting at the AMWA annual conference, was the treasurer of the Mid-Atlantic Chapter, and served on the national Budget and Finance Committee. She has been the Treasurer of the Florida Chapter since 2006. In honor of her long-time service to AMWA, she received an AMWA Fellowship Award in 2011. Maryalice is happy to continue to support the chapter by overseeing its finances.
